The Guest House: Before

The wait is over: we have a yard again!  And a couple of buildings built in 1950 were included in the contract (isn't that how gardeners see a home purchase?).  The main house (where we will live) and guest house need quite a lot of repair and renovation, so hang onto your shorts!  We're in for quite a ride.

Work has already begun in the guest house to prepare it for our friend to move in, so without further ado, I give you the "Befores":
The Front

The Bath
The Kitchen
This is a view of the dining room side of the kitchen.
Here's the view from the laundry area in the bedroom. Concrete floors where carpet had been ripped up.
And here's the same bedroom from the entrance.  That's a closet on the right, and laundry hookup and shelves on the left.
And here's the living room.  Again, we have concrete floors where molded carpet had been ripped up.
Here's the view of the living room from the door.  Our friend has picked out some chill colors for this place, and you guys won't even recognize it when it's done!

Well, that's about it for now.  Stay tuned for "before" pictures of the main house!

  1. Are you guys going to do painted concrete? That always seemed like such a cool idea. I love the little guest house! So cool! It's awesome when you have such a great passion for the projects.

  2. Can't wait to see the after (or even progress pics). Congratulations on your closing. And where are pictures of your new home (exterior at least)? :)

  3. Rachel, that's exactly what we'll do! At least for now. Later we'll want to take up the remaining linoleum and tile the whole place, but we won't have the money to do that until after our house in NC sells, hopefully this Spring. Jan, I'll probably post photos of the main house tomorrow, if I have the chance!
